Supplied originally as a tintop and then converted to a camper by Devon this van has had a cherished life. only 3 previous owners (including the current owner). The welcome addition of a Bilbo pop top roof later in life with room for 2 is a fantastic upgrade. A handy roof rack is present over the cab a'la Westfalia design.
Supplied new by Royal Berks Motor Company Reading on 01.06.1972. With lots of mot's from first test in 1976 through to recent. Plus suppplying manuals and dealer wallet. lots of receipts for work and some service history present to prove the genuine mileage of just shy of 51 000 miles. The bus is still in its original red colour though subjected to an internal and external paint in the past, Zero welding ever done and none needed. The second owner was Shiplake Motors Near Henley, the van has most Mots with only a few gaps which are covered in later certificates proving the mileage is genuine.
The second owner who was the proprieter of Shiplake motors kept the engine and van in fine fettle. was able to keep the van polished and in Dry storage. U.K rust free vans can and do exist if they have a pampered life and have been stored out of the elements. This van is just that, a true low mileage rust free survivor.
Running it's type 4 1700 engine and gearbox still which is in fine fettle, we will work our magic on the mechanicals once the new owner pays a deposit. the plan is to:
The interior really has the wow factor that an original interior can never come close to, no matter how unused. This is an all things timber' 3/4 width interior. These interiors aren't an off the peg affair, this is bespoke built to this van. The look, smell and execution is second to none.
whilst inside this then brings us to the trim. Bromsgrove trimmers undertook this stage, new pop top canvas, new headlining, all new foam, front and rear seating all bespoke and the finish again is faultless and as new.
Starting with a low mileage low owner van and then using such respected companies for the other elements has resulted in the previous owner building his ultimate camper, and this chap would know a thing or two with this being his third bay window.
opening the cab door allows you access to the stunning painted dash, with the subtle 'retro sounds' stereo that by name and design may not look that new, but is bang up to date allowing pairing of phones via bluetooth and DAB radio stations access. At present the van doesn't have power steering (and not included in the price though we can supply and fit and at a good price along with a bepsoke MCJ ally steering wheel with your design on the horn press to really make your own?). The steering box is silky smooth, again a true indication of a low mileage bus in fine accident free fettle.
