Deluxe wanderer spec so high gloss painted units in pastel white rather than standard real wood veneer. The van was previously buily by us to order for a client back in 2013, but covered just over 2000 miles in 13 years. always garaged and condition shows this.
ENGINE SPEC:
The engine is not your normal 1600 single port as per factory spec in '69. it is a 1641cc VW Heritage SSP 2 engine, high spec motor:
meticulously assembled in the UK using 100% new components. Designed to bridge the gap between our standard 1641 and 1776 engines, the SP2 offers superior mid-range performance at an exceptional value. This engine is built with top-spec parts including Empi's latest big-valve heads, a forged counter-weighted crankshaft, and a fully balanced bottom end, ensuring both reliability and power.
Our engines undergo rigorous quality checks, including a half-hour spin at 2000rpm to test oil pressure, cylinder compression, and oil leaks before dispatch. The SSP 1641cc "SP2" is suitable for unleaded fuel and comes with a gasket kit, new oil cooler, and a lightened flywheel
when the van was originally built back in 2013 we took the van to Jacks Hill garage in Hertforshire for a rolling road tune session, nearly 100 hp on the rolling road at the flywheel, not bad at all the quality of the parts speak volumes and this engine now is £5300 inc vat for the long block, add in a set of Genuine Italian Del'Lorto 36mm carbs at £1500 plus all new tinware, stainless steel 4 in to 1 exhaust and 1-2-3 distributor etc and you are looking at £8000 of engine pre labour time to build to a conmplete engine.
GEARBOX
the gearbox is a type 4 1800 cm 'Pyramid' box with taller gears than the 1600 box but not as high ratio's as a 2 litre box or 'freeway flyer' spec, this is to not work the peaky SSP 2 engine too hard ensuring it stays in its lower rev range in 4th.
SUSPENSION
The van is lowered on beam adjusters and uprated shocks
A lovely bus and one we were very proud of when built 12 years ago, still in fine fettle and far cheaper than the £60k plus cost now to build an decent rust free shell to this spec, a uk van would need £30k of welding before even starting on the £60k build, trust us we know!!
an early bay, yet with brakes upgraded and far more powerful engine than the factroy 1600cc single port with 56hp. new front brakes with discs and calipers. van will come with new master cylinder by ATE of Germany.
