21 years in business must mean a lot right? well it does to us. we are proud of our ethos and ethics that have seen us last the test of time when so many have fallen by the roadside, why? well we run a tight business, not a hobby but a business. we are in the business of buses, and damn good at it too, please take time to read our reviews, and get in touch for a free 'G'day Gander' inspection
2026 marks our 21st year in business specialising in classic Volkswagen camper vans and air-cooled Volkswagens.
G'day Kombis was started by Billy Rogers in 2005 after returning from a year-and-a-half trip around Australia in a classic VW Bay Window camper. Billy had studied Business at university and was just 27 when he decided to turn his passion for classic Volkswagens into a business.
Twenty-one years later, that same passion is still at the heart of G'day Kombis.
Running a small business for more than two decades inevitably brings its ups and downs, but we believe our longevity comes down to a few simple things: determination, looking after our customers, communicating properly and genuinely caring about the vehicles we work on.
We are proud to be a genuine independent VW specialist rather than simply another garage that happens to work on classic Volkswagens.
Our workshop is home to two full-time, highly experienced VW engineers, both of whom have more than 30 years' experience working on classic Volkswagens.
That experience matters.
Between us, we have restored, built, serviced and maintained hundreds of classic VW campers, including Bay Windows and Splitscreens, and we have developed an enormous amount of practical knowledge along the way.
We know these vehicles inside out.
From diagnosing an engine fault to setting up twin carburettors, sorting out a heating system, preparing a bus for a long European trip or tackling restoration welding, our aim is always the same: do the job properly and keep you informed throughout.
One of the things we are most proud of is our communication.
We provide pre-work diagnosis and quotations before work begins, and we keep customers updated with photographs and messages via WhatsApp as their vehicle progresses through the workshop.
You won't simply drop your camper off and hear nothing until you receive an invoice.
We believe you should know what we have found, what needs doing, why it needs doing and what it is going to cost.
That approach comes from Billy's background in business. Growing up in a family business, he learned from an early age that word of mouth is the best form of advertising. To earn that recommendation, you need to provide a good service, stand behind your work and genuinely care about your customers.
That philosophy has remained at the centre of G'day Kombis since 2005.
Our South Oxfordshire workshop is specifically set up to work on classic VW campers and air-cooled Volkswagen cars.
We have two ramps, specialist equipment and experienced technicians who work on classic Volkswagens every day.
Our specialist services include:
Modern E10 petrol can cause problems for older vehicles, and classic VW campers are particularly vulnerable to deterioration of older fuel system components.
We are seeing more and more issues associated with ethanol fuel.
At G'day Kombis we use nitrile butyl rubber fuel components from a UK manufacturer where appropriate, including fuel hose and other vulnerable components.
Fuel lines aren't the only area to consider. Fuel tank inlets, breathers, fuel senders and sender O-rings can all become potential problem areas.
If you can smell petrol inside or around the rear of your camper, don't ignore it.
A petrol smell can indicate a fuel leak or deteriorating component and should be investigated promptly.
We can inspect your camper's fuel system and identify potential problems before they become a much bigger issue.
We have established trade accounts with leading VW parts suppliers including VW Heritage and Just Kampers.
After more than 20 years in business, we also have strong purchasing relationships and buying power, allowing us to source parts efficiently and pass that knowledge and purchasing power on to our customers.
We hold a range of commonly required parts in stock and can source specialist components quickly when required.
Our knowledge isn't limited to the workshop either.
Having been involved in shipping classic VW campers around the world for approximately 15 years, we have experience with many of the issues that come with owning, buying, selling and transporting classic Volkswagens internationally.
If it involves a classic VW camper, there is a very good chance we've come across it before.
A classic VW camper isn't a modern car.
It has very different mechanical systems, different construction methods and a long history that needs to be understood when diagnosing problems.
Our £85 + VAT hourly rate represents specialist knowledge and experience, not simply time spent turning spanners.
Because we work on classic VW campers every day, we can often diagnose and complete work far more efficiently than a general garage charging a similar hourly rate.
You are paying for the knowledge as well as the time.
If your beloved camper needs servicing, repairs, upgrades or preparation for a major trip, put it in the hands of people who genuinely understand these vehicles.
G'day Kombis is based in South Oxfordshire, and we regularly work with customers throughout:
Oxford · Thame · Wallingford · Abingdon · Witney · Henley · Reading · Berkshire · Buckinghamshire · Hampshire · London · Surrey · Cotswolds · Thames Valley · Midlands · South East England

All roads lead to Oxford!
